Literature review: The condition of junior high school scientific literacy level and strategy to promote it

Abstract

The development of scientific literacy is one of the primary goals in learning growth, particularly in science education. Students' scientific literacy in Indonesia is not developing as expected. Recent research state that Indonesian students' scientific literacy is still need more attention in order to develop and improve. This research objective is to observe the condition of students' scientific literacy level and the strategy to improving students' scientific literacy. The method of this research is by reviewing the literature and journal as many as twenty journals that can be counted for and related to scientific literacy condition and strategy to improving it. This research used a qualitative descriptive analysis technique through the literature study. The result indicates that students' scientific literacy currently still needed a more attention due to a low levels condition. Based on this condition, innovation in science learning process were needed to improving students' scientific literacy. There's a various learning strategy in developing students' scientific literacy that focused to improving students' scientific literacy. Novelty of this research are to presenting a literature review in recent research that relevant with the topics of condition students' scientific literacy and strategy to improving students' scientific literacy. © 2026 Author(s).
