–This paper aim is to develop an Augmented Reality (AR)--based learning tool to enhance the foundational knowledge of Mechanical Engineering Education students. Employing a research and development (R&D) approach with the waterfall model. The study reveals a significant improvement in students' understanding, as evidenced by the difference between pre-test and post-test results. Results: The AR media proved highly effective due to its interactive visual design, comprehensive content, user-friendly interface, and optimized features. Additionally, its lightweight file size facilitates smooth operation. Implication: The AR media developed in this study can be utilized by individuals seeking to master the basic knowledge of lathes, including in vocational high schools and colleges. Moreover, the findings contribute to a valuable database for future AR media development and provide a reference for educational policymakers in enhancing learning quality through media innovation. © (2026), (UIKTEN - Association for Information Communication Technology Education and Science).
