Cognitive structure of pre-service biology teachers, the State University of Jakarta on circulatory system concepts using free word - Association test and the drawing-writing technique

Abstract

This study aims to get a profile of the cognitive structure of pre-service-teacher students in Indonesia, on the concept of a circulatory system with Free Word Association Test instruments and The Drawing-Writing Technique. The results of the circulatory system material content analysis found that the conceptual category of "structure and morphology of circulatory devices" has the most responses, while the concept of "circulated material," has a low response. Based on the analysis results, 12 categories of the cognitive structure are obtained, in which seven categories are obtained from the Drawing Technique and 11 categories obtained from the Writing Technique, and the cognitive structure of pre-service-teacher students, are at levels 2 and 3. © 2018 Author(s).
