Abstract

This study aims to develop the valid and reliable of SCT-ETEP. Scientific creativity is a crucial competency for prospective elementary teachers, as it equips them to cultivate creativity in their classrooms. The SCT-ETEP limited the science material in the elementary education program, adapted from Hu and Adey's SCTSS. The adaptation process involves adjusting each question item in each SCTSS category to align with the several science topics used, including the properties of light, weather and climate, energy, living things and the earth, electricity, and the properties of materials. This SCT-ETEP also combines the Park's scientific creativity test for scoring in each category. The instrument's content validity was evaluated by four experts, using Aiken's Validity Index and Fleiss' Kappa for interrater reliability. Empirical constructs validation was conducted using data from 50 elementary teacher education students in Tulungagung, East Java, Indonesia. Methods included item-total correlation analysis and internal consistency testing through Cronbach's Alpha. The content validation results confirmed that most SCT-ETEP items met the validity criteria with significant agreement among experts. Construct validation indicated that 12 of 14 items had correlation coefficients above 0.30 and significant p values confirming their contribution to the construct. SCT-ETEP Version 2, which includes only valid items, was selected as the final version, achieving a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.796, indicating good internal reliability. Content and construct validations confirmed the instrument's robustness, with SCT-ETEP Version 2 demonstrating strong reliability and validity for assessing scientific creativity in elementary teacher education. SCT-ETEP should be applied for future study across diverse educational settings and refined periodically.
