Abstract

In this study, we present an investigation of uncladded fiber bragg grating (FBG) as a chemical sensor towards glucose in aqueous solution with various concentration from 0 - 60 wt%.The measurement system consists of deuterium-halogen lamp as light source, uncladded fiber bragg gratings that have been etched with nitric acid (HNO3) as sensing element, and spectrometer as optical spectrum viewer. The measured parameter is an intensity in optical spectrum due to changes in glucose solution concentration It was found that the uncladded FBG exhibits the response towards water with varying concentrations of glucose. The results show that the intensity shifts to lower value as the glucose concentration increases with hysteresis below 0.05 a.u. © 2020 IOP Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.
