Students' conceptions is very important to analyze in order to avoid misconceptions. This research aims to determine the conception and changes in students' conceptions of the material concept of chemical equilibrium on the temperature factor in physical chemistry study. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Research use a college student at Universitas Negeri Surabaya. The results obtained in this study are that basically students understand enough about shifts in chemical equilibrium, but still have misconceptions, especially in writing changes in reaction equations when chemical equilibrium is disturbed and analyzing phenomena using metacognitive to an example of a concept in surrounding life. With this step-by-step test instrument, students can get instant feedback and immediately correct their misconceptions so that students' misconceptions can be resolved. This is evidenced by the results of the distribution of student understanding in the end of tests with the average of student understanding is high. The conclusion of this study is that the results of students' conceptions and changes in conception of the concept of chemical equilibrium material on the temperature factor with a step-by-step test instrument are obtained which can correct misconceptions that occur in students. © 2026 Author(s).
