Abstract

Economic load dispatch (ELD) is one of the most important problems in power systems and needs a quick solution. In this research, the Tasmanian Devil Optimization (TDO) method is applied to obtain a solution for economic load dispatch. TDO is a metaheuristic method that imitates the behavior of the Tasmanian devil in their habitat in search of food. The Tasmanian devil has 2 main strategies, namely hunting live prey or eating dead animal carcasses. This study focuses on how to optimize the electricity network economically by not ignoring various problems such as transmission line power losses. This research is simulated on a matlab application and the research validation uses several methods such as Arithmetic Optimization, Hunger Games Search (HGS), and Arithmetic Optimization Algorithm (AOA). The article employs 2 case study problems, namely a system with 3 units and a system with 6 units. The test was conducted against the mathematical method and the TDO method. The simulation output shows that the TDO method has the best performance. © 2022 IEEE.
