Playing cannot be separated from early childhood education. Engklek is a well-known Indonesian traditional game played by all people despite their ages. This study aims to find out how the game stimulates children’s cognitive skills during online learning. This is a quantitative study with an experimental pretest posttest group design. It was conducted with sixty kindergarten students ages 5 to 6 years. Data were collected through online observation as well as interviews and scaled using the Mann-Whitney test. Analysis was completed to investigate if a relationship exists between engklek and children’s cognitive skills. The results show a difference in the deviation scores of both groups, indicating that engklek can be implemented as successful learning media. Moreover, it is provably significant in stimulating children’s cognitive skills during online learning. © Common Ground Research Networks, Rachma Hasibuan, R.
