Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the ability of titanium dioxide-coated copper catalytic converters to reduce the noise level from four-stroke engines. This experimental research uses Yamaha Vixion Lightning as the object of research. Research instruments used include chassis dynamometer, sound level meter, manometer, and tachometer. The noise level test was carried out in accordance with the ISO/FDIS 5130:2006 (E). The findings of this study indicate that overall experimental exhaust mufflers can reduce motorcycle noise levels. The best noise reduction occurs in the experimental exhaust muffler with a curve of 3 mm + 50 gr TiO2 which is 3.40%. Then, based on the results of a comparison with the Regulation of the Minister of the Environment Number 7 of 2009, it can be stated that the reduction in noise level produced by the overall variation of MCC+TiO2 is included in the category of passing the noise test. © 2023 Author(s).
