Abstract

Based on indonesia nutritional status survey (2021), the prevalence of stunting in the nganjuk regency was 25.3%. One of the villages designated as a stunting locus is sudimoroharjo with a prevalence of 13.5%. Data were collected by using interview, observation, and focus group discussion techniques directly to mothers of stunting infants and toddlers. A total of 52 cadres, 3 midwives, and 15 students from the universitas negeri surabaya (unesa) participated in the program and were divided into 8 groups based on every neighborhood for 3 months. Before intensive accompaniment program was carried out, mothers of infants and toddlers did not try to give food to children, both in terms of frequency and composition. The mentoring program carried out consisted of counseling on the contents of my plate with the principles of diverse, nutritious, balanced and safe at every integrated healthcare centre every day, door-to-door stunting assistance, providing daily nutrition consultation services at the sub-healthcare center. In addition, supplementary feeding of milk and biscuits also provided for infants and toddlers with malnutrition and stunting once a month. Monitoring is done by asking the mother and child to come every two weeks to the sub-healthcare center to check the nutritional status of the child. Furthermore, cadres, midwives, and students visited the homes once a month to ask whether the supplementary feeding given was consumed or not. After being given direct assistance, mothers can understand how to apply proper feeding both in terms of the number, types of side dishes, and frequency of children’s meals. Mothers also finished 100% of supplementary feeding to children so that the prevalence of stunting drops to 9.21%. © 2022, Airlangga University. All rights reserved.
