Individual Innovative Behavior Through Human-Computer Interaction in eSport Mechanisms: An Evidence-Based Approach

Abstract

As a form of sportification of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), eSport are revolutionizing the video game and sports industry in the digital transformation era. Applying Self-Determination Theory (SDT), this study aims to try to understand the relationship between the motivations that make people 'eSport fans' with their behavior in supporting eSport so that it has an impact on the level of individual innovative behavior. Using Partial Least Squares -Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) as a data analysis approach with the Smart PLS 3 tool was carried out in this study. A survey was conducted among 100 people to investigate their behavior related to eSport at the level of individual innovative behavior. The findings indicate that eSport as intrinsic motivation has a larger role in idea exploration, idea generation, and idea championing than in idea implementation. This contributes to applying SDT in the context of eSport and innovative behavior. © 2023 IEEE.
