This study aims to describe the profile of the ability of chemistry teachers in developing a minimum competency assessment (MCA), increasing the ability to develop an MCA and participant responses to the training activities carried out. This research is a type of action research which is conducted in 2 cycles. The target of this research is the chemistry teacher members of the Chemistry Teachers Association (CTA) in Mojokerto city, East Java, a total of 15 people. The research data was collected using the test of ability to compose an MCA as well as a participant response questionnaire to the training activities. The research data were analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that the chemistry teacher's ability score in developing an MCA after being given training was 84.56 and the n-gain score was 0.78 in the high category. The teacher's ability score in developing an MCA with literacy levels 1, 2, and 3 were 95.53, 77.00, and 70.93, respectively. Participants gave a positive response to the training provided. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the training activities have been able to improve the ability of chemistry teachers in developing literacy-based minimum competency assessments for chemistry subjects. The ability of teachers in developing an MCA with literacy levels 2 and 3 needs to be improved. © 2023 Author(s).
