The submarine monument in Surabaya is the only largest submarine monument in Indonesia that used the former KRI Pasopati 410 submarine. The attraction of this submarine monument is as a means of heritage of historical educational values which is a mirror of the greatness of the Indonesian nation as a maritime nation to motivate people to know and love marine history more. The purpose of the study was to create a typical Surabaya batik motif with the source of the idea of a submarine monument. Batik is a handicraft by drawing on cloth by utilizing wax in the manufacturing process which has been produced for generations in Indonesia. The method used in this study is the Double Diamond Model which consists of 4 stages: discover, define, develop, and deliver. The results of this research are 3 batik designs that have been copyrighted and 3 written batik prototypes. The three designs are titled Monkasel 1, Monkasel 2 and Monkasel 3. The results of research in the form of batik design can be a means of promotion submarine monument tourism and become an alternative complement to submarine moumen tourism souvenirs. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2023.
