Abstract

Purpose: This article investigates the influence of entrepreneurship education, self-efficacy, and educational background on the entrepreneurial intentions of vocational high school students in Indonesia. This article examines the moderating influence of institutional support on the relationship between entrepreneurship education, educational background, and entrepreneurial intentions of vocational high school students in Indonesia. Design / methodology / approach: The primary data from the final-year students was collected through the utilisation of survey questionnaires in the article. The study utilised the SPSS-AMOS software to assess the reliability of the data and examine the relationships between the variables. Findings: The results of the study demonstrate a positive correlation between entrepreneurship education, self-efficacy, and educational background with the entrepreneurial intentions of vocational high school students in Indonesia. The findings also revealed that the presence of institutional support plays a significant moderating role in the relationship between entrepreneurship education, educational background, and entrepreneurial intentions among vocational high school students in Indonesia. Research limitations/implications: The study provides guidance to regulatory bodies in developing regulations that aim to promote entrepreneurial intention through the implementation of effective entrepreneurship education, fostering self-efficacy, and emphasising a robust educational foundation. Originality/value: The cultivation of an entrepreneurial mindset has emerged as a crucial factor in the development of students' ability to compete in the market. Therefore, researchers and policymakers must prioritise their efforts towards fostering this aspect. © 2023 Ani Publishing Ltd. All rights reserved.
