A novel human-based optimization algorithm named Dance Training-Based Optimizer (DTBO), based on the simulation of dance training steps, is proposed in this paper. Search agents in DTBO are dancers who want to perform the best dance show by training. DTBO is mathematically modeled in three phases with titles 1- imitation, 2- practice, and 3-creativity. A set of sixty-eight objective functions, including unimodal, multi-modal, CEC 2015 test suite, and CEC 2017 test suite, has been used to evaluate the proposed DTBO and its performance is compared with other eight optimization algorithms. Results obtained from these studies indicate the desired and acceptable quality and performance of the proposed algorithm in its application to solve optimization problems. © This article is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.
