Technostress Construct Validity Test with Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) Method

Abstract

This study aims to test the construct validity of the technostress instrument using a measurement tool developed by Ragu-Nathan et al. (2008), which has 20 modified items using the Indonesian language. The research data was obtained from middle adult teaching staff, namely teachers and lecturers aged 35-60 who taught online learning methods during Covid-19. Respondents obtained amounted to 212 respondents. The test used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with first-order per-dimensional, first-order unidimensional, and second-order models. The analysis was done in MPLUS. Based on CFA first-order per-dimensional testing, results show that items for four dimensions (techno-overload, techno-complexity, techno-insecurity, and techno-uncertainty) are valid. The CFA first-order unidimensional and second-order model results agree that the models fit according to the goodness criteria, and all items are valid except item T17. Thus, the Technostress measuring tool developed by Ragu-Nathan et al. (2008) can measure a person’s Technostress. © 2024, Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta.
