Integrating web-based virtual classes in university settings within the metaverse represents a transformative approach to education, offering immersive and interactive learning experiences. This research aims to explore the practical application of this innovative method in Indonesian education while identifying any discrepancies with existing theories. By employing usability testing, the study seeks to provide an analysis of the implementation of web-based virtual classes in university. Usability testing in this context can help identify usability issues and improve the overall user experience of the learning system. Using usability testing to provide valuable insights from users, including students and educators, regarding the functionality and user-friendliness of the virtual learning environment. The primary objective of this research is to bridge the gap between theoretical frameworks and practical implementation of web-based virtual classes in Indonesian university using usability testing based on Jakob Nielsen's theory which has never been used in this case in the previous studies. Previous studies found that the application of metaverse is effective in education, but others explain practically still have any lacks. By examining the actual application of this technology, researchers could maximize the aim to enhance teaching and learning practices. From this research, we found out that, web-based virtual classes are usable for learning activities and could help pave the way for more tailored and effective educational strategies in the metaverse. Through this study, we found what aspects we need to consider to develop a web-based metaverse virtual class. © 2024 IEEE.
