Vidaldi Antipodal Antenna (AVA) provides broadband advantages, especially communications that require wide frequency bands. AVA performance is continuously improved to increase bandwidth, gain and radiation pattern. The purpose of this study is to determine the best slot edge design for maximizing gain and bandwidth. The AVA design is the original AVA, RTSE-AVA (rectangular tapered slot edge), CTSE-AVA (circular), and ETSE-AVA (exponential). This AVA is designed using FR4 substrate with dimensions 65 × 52.5 × 1.6 mm. The AVA result S11 is ≤ -10 dB at frequencies ranging from 3.2 GHz to more than 16 GHz. It was discovered from the simulation results that ETSE-AVA's low-end performance outperformed the others. Meanwhile, the best gain reach for RTSE-AVA at 7 GHz of 8.5 dB. In addition, the RTSE-VA, CTSE-AVA, and ETSE-AVA produce optimal values with higher gain at low and intermediate frequencies compared to the original design. © 2024 IEEE.
