The study aims to investigate students' sustainability awareness of ecological and biodiversity learning with STEAM project integrated ESD. The sample of the research included 7th-grade students who were randomly selected from different classes with a total of 64 students. Students' sustainability awareness was measured using a questionnaire with a total of fifteen statements consisting of five statements about sustainable knowledge, five statements about sustainable attitudes, and five statements about sustainable actions. The results showed that 46 students had continuous awareness of positive categories and 18 students of very positive categories. The sustainable action indicator had the highest score in the very positive category, followed by sustainable knowledge and sustainable attitude in the positive category. Students understand the concept of ecology and biodiversity including ecosystem components, interactions between ecosystems, human influence on ecosystems, and ecological conservation associated with ESD concepts, especially related to climate change. Students understand that human activities have disrupted biogeochemical cycles resulting in climate change. Climate change impacts all aspects of life. Students respond positively to things that can damage ecosystems and affect the sustainability of life. Students also take actions or activities that can help in overcoming these problems including arranging a balanced terrarium and making simple conservation technology that can help climate change. Moreover, on the results obtained from the study, it could be stated that the STEAM project integrated ESD on ecological and biodiversity learning may be used to train students' sustainability awareness. The findings of this study provide references and guidelines for teaching strategies to exercise students' sustainability awareness, especially in learning related to environmental and life sustainability. © 2024 Author(s).
