Abstract

In the rapidly evolving landscape of physics education, the integration of innovative tools such as Augmented Reality (AR) and PhET Simulations has become essential in promoting a deeper conceptual understanding among students. This research was conducted to determine the most effective learning innovation between AR and PhET Simulation in students' understanding of physics concepts. The research for this study adopted a systematic literature review approach. We conclude that PhET Simulations is the most effective instructional innovation for informing students understanding of physics concepts. On the other hand, Augmented Reality (AR)-based learning tools looked to mainly offer an improvement in students' motivation in learning physics at this time without the boost in conceptual understanding. Introducing groundbreaking insights, our research pioneers a comparative analysis of Augmented Reality and PhET Simulation in physics education, offering innovative strategies to enhance students' conceptual understanding within the dynamic landscape of education. © 2026 Author(s).
