This study examines how literature and film are related, identifying the fundamental visual components that carry readers and viewers into distinct worlds. In contrast to literature, movies offer a thorough representation of situations that make it easier for viewers to connect with the story. The study concentrates on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kathiawadi from Hussain Zaidi's Mafia Queens of Mumbai, focusing on the chapter The Matriarch of Mumbai. The authors examine how Bhansali adapted the Movie from the novel using a descriptive qualitative method, drawing on library investigation and examining the degree of faithfulness and deviance. The research analyzes the similarities and contrasts between the two works using the idea of adaptation. The authors took data from Zaidi's Book and Bhansali's film and information from e-books, English literature magazines, and numerous online sources. The authors found that the director creates some interpretations and differences, but they modify the Book's central meaning. The dramatic transition of "Gangubai Kathiawadi" from the printed page to the big screen illustrates the study's point that literary works can be transformed when adapted for the big screen. © 2025 Sciedu Press.
