Abstract

A new geranylated xanthone, garcicelebicin A (1), along with cheffouxanthone (2) and bangangxanthone A (3), was successfully isolated from the twigs of Garcinia celebica L. Structural determination was based on spectroscopic data analysis using HRESI-TOFMS, IR, UV, and 1D-, and 2D-NMR). The cytotoxicity of xanthones 1–3 was evaluated against HeLa and 4T1 cells using the MTT assay. Compound 1 exhibited moderate activity against HeLa and 4T1 cells with an IC50 value of 13.24 ± 0.18 and 16.94 ± 0.20 µm, respectively, whereas compounds 2–3 were inactive. © 2025 Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and Wiley-VCH GmbH.
