Aim: The digitalization of education in Indonesia is a key policy response to addressing challenges in access, equity, and quality, particularly in rural and remote areas. This research aims to the implementation of Indonesia’s digital education policies, concentrating on the Merdeka Mengajar and Rapor Pendidikan programs with respect to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) outcomes. Methodology: This research used mixed-methods approach employing quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews with 266 individuals such as teachers, principals, and educational supervisors from varying school levels. The study analyzed communications resource, and administrative policy as some of the critical aspects of policy implementation. Results: The findings reveal the reception of the initiated digitalization was extremely positive and the scores for disposition and communication were very high. Although, there still remain major gaps in infrastructure and digital access in undeveloped areas. The study emphasizes the need for equitable allocation of digital resources, continuous teacher training, and resource allocation. Conclusion: The government needs to pour more funds into ICT infrastructure, increase the building of capacity of educators, widen the policy implementation approach to ensure the effective provision of digital education in the country, and these would be the recommended next steps. And for the other recommendations, we look at the different gaps these uncovered to foster improving education equity, sustainability and digital literacy comprehensively and sustainably within the Indonesian context. © 2025, Artseduca.
