This study examines the integration of Banyuwangi’s tra-ditional arts into primary education to enhance engagement, character development, and cultural preservation. Amid globalization's threats to local traditions, culturally relevant education bridges academic achievement with identity. Using a qualitative case study in three schools, data from observations, interviews, focus groups, and docu-ments revealed improved participation, creativity, and moral traits like empathy and respect. However, resource gaps and inadequate teacher training hinder effectiveness. Findings emphasize embedding local cul-ture to foster identity, proposing resource support, flexible curricula, and cultural collaboration for sustainable character education. © 2025, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul,Faculdade de Educacao.
