The development of e-books that enrich with various features, such as virtual laboratories, has been used in particular learning settings. However, these e-books did not provide every media relating to the learning model and comparing the students’ abilities. Besides, technology implementation is complex for instructional activities and achiever gap issues, so the particular strategy needs to achieve the learning goals. In this study, an all-in-one e-book (AiO-eB) Package as the emerging format to serve every media need in guided inquiry proposes to investigate the students’ learning achievement, critical thinking skill, practicum performances, and achiever issue while creating the automation assessment just in an e-book media as a learning ecosystem. This research used the quasi-experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the learning approach. The experiment group students learn with the AiO-eB integration into guided inquiry, while the control group students learn with a conventional guided inquiry approach. The results show that the proposed media as a whole learning environment significantly improves students’ learning achievement, critical thinking, and practicum performance in specific achiever issues. However, there was no significant interaction between the group and achiever across all variables but a significant difference between the two groups. It indicates that both high and low achievement show the score significant but in different intervals. These phenomena support using a differential learning approach in the experiment with high and low achievers; the control group still had an increasing score. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature B.V. 2025.
