Abstract

Traffic congestion can cause several environmental problems, such as air pollution, accidents, and inefficient use of time due to unfavorable congestion. Therefore, this research aims to develop a prototype innovation in the form of a levitating train assisted by the principle of magnetic levitation and electromagnetic fields in operation so that the prototype can be one of the solutions to technological developments in this era. This prototype uses the main components in the form of magnets and coils that can be realized perfectly in a straight trajectory and have been tested for use. The research on this levitating train prototype uses the research and development (R&D) method with the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) approach. The results of a magnetic levitation (maglev) train prototype on a straight track were obtained because, on a circular track, the train cannot move ideally. This study introduces a novel integration of magnetic levitation and electromagnetic field principles within the STEAM framework, resulting in a practical and scalable solution for modern urban transportation challenges. © 2025 Author(s).
