Home security is an important issue that affects people's comfort. The problem of home security is increasingly complex, with increasing unemployment rates, population density, and the sophistication of technology used by criminals. Traditional home security systems cannot withstand modern security attacks. This issue drives the need for more innovative and more responsive security systems. Motion Detection Products with Solar Energy (MDSE) is a model with great potential in applying STEAM learning. This research aims to develop Motion Detection with Solar Energy (MDSE) as an alternative to motion sensors in home security systems. MDSE utilizes renewable energy in motion sensor technology to detect movement, so it does not require electrical power and can work in places with minimal light. The MDSE prototype has been successfully designed and implemented. Tests show that MDSE has a reading range of up to a maximum distance of 4 cm and a fast response time, namely 0.45 to 0.91 seconds for the LED and 0.52 to 0.93 seconds for the buzzer. MDSE has several advantages over traditional motion sensors: it does not require electrical power, can work in low-light places, has a broad reading range, and has a fast response time. Motion Detection with Solar Energy (MDSE) can be a solution to increase the effectiveness of home security systems and recommendations on STEAM learning. © 2025 Author(s).
