In mathematics education, addressing students' challenges with linear equations is urgent. E-comics, as one of the gamification forms, promise an innovative approach to help students with difficulties; e-comics provide an engaging and visual approach to learning. Several studies in mathematics gamification have proven to positively improve students' comprehension of applying formal solution strategies. This paper presents the effectiveness of RME-based e-comic, especially in the use of the balancing method, to support students' understanding of linear equations with one variable (LEOV). This part of the study employed pre-experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. There was an increase in student learning outcomes indicated by an N-Gain value of 0.7, which falls into a moderate upper limit category of effectiveness. Furthermore, several positive feedback from the e-comic from the developmental process. One is easy to access and use anytime and anywhere. © 2025 Author(s).
