Abstract

Communication is an important component in the process of learning mathematics. Mathematical communication consists of written communication and oral communication. This study aims to describe students' written communication in solving numeracy problems in the terms of gender. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative. Research subjects in this study were two eighth grade students with equivalent mathematical abilities, namely one female student, and one male student. The instruments used are test questions and interview guidelines. The results of the written test analysis showed that all research subjects had complete mathematical communication on the first numeracy question. Meanwhile, the second numeracy question shows that the mathematical communication of female students is incomplete, while the mathematical communication of male students is complete. © 2025 American Institute of Physics Inc..
