Abstract

Robotic technology is increasingly revolutionizing athlete training by improving accuracy, lowering energy consumption, and promoting sustainability. This literature review consolidates findings from recent research on the use of robotics in sports, which encompasses training simulations, real-time performance assessment, and energy efficiency. By automating tasks and facilitating precise data evaluation, robotics decreases the dependence on manual facilities and enhances the use of resources. Research indicates enhanced training effectiveness, injury prevention, and a lower environmental footprint. Nevertheless, challenges persist regarding costs, the need for sport-specific customization, and the replication of human movements. This paper emphasizes the significance of incorporating robotics for sustainable development in sports and points out research gaps that require further investigation to maximize both athletic performance and environmental advantages. © The Authors, published by EDP Sciences, 2025.
