This research is qualitative research with the aim of uncovering the profile of understanding the concept of function limit of the prospective teachers students based on difference in mathematical skill. This research is important considering that differential calculus is a major course for mathematics students and the function limit becomes part of differential calculus. This research is an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. The research subject is the students who will be prospective teacher from the Department of Mathematics Education FKIP UHO) who have studied the concept of function limits in Differential Calculus courses with categories of high and medium mathematical capabilities, the determination is based on the results of mathematical skill tests. Research data is in the form of in-depth, open, and unstructured interview result. Valid and credible research data is used in conducting comprehensive analysis to answer research questions. The results of this study are presented as follows: (1) categories represent a problem into function limit, high subjects have consistency in presenting and explaining their understanding related to the presentation of a contextual problem that can be represented into the concept of function limit. For medium subjects is also able to represent contextual problems into the concept of function limit, but they are not strict in setting the boundary requirements of the function created. (2) the definition category of function limit from high subjects and medium subjects, they are able to write the definition of function limit both intuitively and formally, (3) the deconstruction category of the definition of function limit, high subjects and medium subjects can write the components or elements of the definition builder of the function limit, but incomplete. © 2025 American Institute of Physics Inc..
